Mr Russell Deer has been appointed Principal of Braemar College
An extremely popular choice amongst staff, students, parents and the surrounding community alike; Mr Deer was chosen after an extensive candidate search and selection process was undertaken. He has over 20 years experience in the Australian education sector and held a range of positions in Queensland’s secondary school sector before joining Braemar College in 2008.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Russell Deer as the fourth principal in the College’s distinguished history and are confident that he can take the College forward as it moves into a new era of growth,” said Mr Joel Murray, Chairman: Braemar College Board of Governors.
Mr Murray went on to add that Mr Deer was a stand-out candidate and an obvious choice to step up to the role of Principal, given that, over the past year, he performed well in the roles of Vice Principal Student Wellbeing and College Operations and Acting Principal.
“We are unanimous in our support of Mr Deer to continue to further develop Braemar’s caring, supportive educational environment, and build on its already strong academic record,” concluded Mr Murray.
“I am delighted and honoured to have been chosen as the new Principal of Braemar College,” said Mr Deer.
“I believe that the College has incredible growth potential and an ability to lead the way forward as one of Victoria’s top regional Colleges educationally, academically and pastorally - and I look forward to further exploring that potential.
“I believe that we have a great responsibility to our various stakeholders – our students, staff, parents, surrounding community and alumni – to make Braemar College one of the greatest educational partnerships they will have the privilege of being associated with,” Mr Deer concluded.
